Lokayan 2026: INS Sudarshini represents India at Sail Boston 2026

Indian Naval Sail Training Ship (INS) Sudarshini arrived in Boston, United States, on Sunday after participating in the Sail4th 250 celebrations in New York. The ship took part in the Grand Parade of Sails, marking the commencement of Sail Boston 2026.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Consul General of India in Boston Raghuram Sastry embarked on INS Sudarshini for the Grand Parade of Sails and the ship’s ceremonial entry into Boston.

Flying the Indian Tricolour, the ship sailed past key landmarks, including Castle Island and the Seaport District, before berthing at the Boston Fish Pier.

INS Sudarshini is participating in Sail Boston 2026 alongside more than 60 tall ships from over 20 countries as part of its ongoing Lokayan 2026 transoceanic expedition. The ship is representing India as a maritime ambassador of goodwill, reflecting the Indian Navy’s commitment to maritime diplomacy, international cooperation and cultural exchange.

The ship will remain open to visitors from July 12 to 15, offering an opportunity to showcase India’s rich maritime traditions and naval heritage to the public.

Prior to arriving in Boston, INS Sudarshini made successful port calls at Norfolk, Baltimore and New York. Its participation in Sail Boston 2026 is expected to further strengthen the growing India-US maritime partnership while enhancing people-to-people and naval engagement between the two countries.

The Lokayan 2026 expedition forms part of the Indian Navy’s efforts to promote India’s seafaring legacy and deepen international maritime cooperation through goodwill visits and cultural outreach.
