The National Narcotics Helpline MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asoochna Kendra) has recorded nearly one million connection attempts since its launch, reflecting growing public participation in reporting drug-related activities and seeking support, the government said on Thursday.
According to an official statement, the helpline has registered over 9.94 lakh connection attempts and received 2,65,673 drug-related inputs on its portal as of June 2026. It has also generated more than 16,200 actionable intelligence inputs related to drug trafficking and connected over 47,500 calls to professional counselling services.
The government said the platform was launched on July 18, 2024, under the aegis of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Digital India Corporation (DIC). It was introduced to provide citizens with a secure and confidential platform to report drug-related activities and access counselling and rehabilitation services.
Built as a technology-driven platform, MANAS enables users to confidentially report drug trafficking, peddling, illegal cultivation and other narcotics-related offences while protecting their identity.
Since its inception, the helpline has assisted more than 32,900 people with substance abuse concerns and facilitated over 12,800 rehabilitation requests, according to the statement.
The platform can be accessed through the national helpline number 1933, the official MANAS portal, email and the UMANG app.
People affected by substance abuse can also access counselling services through MANAS, with calls being transferred to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s helpline 14446.
The government said digital ticket generation and workflow management systems have enabled faster sharing of information with enforcement agencies, improving coordination and response times.
