Mandaviya congratulates Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker after ISSF World Cup podium finishes

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday congratulated Indian shooters Esha Singh and Manu Bhaker after their gold and bronze medal-winning performances in the women’s 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, China.

Mandaviya praised the duo’s achievement as a proud moment for the country, saying their success reflected India’s growing presence in international shooting.

“Bharat on the podium! Congratulations to Esha Singh and Manu Bhaker on winning Gold and Bronze in the Women’s 25m Pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou. The entire nation is proud of you both!” Mandaviya said in a post on X.

Esha clinched the gold medal after a strong performance in the final, while Paris 2024 double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker secured bronze in a closely contested event.

The Indian shooters had impressed in the qualification round, with Manu topping the standings to reach the final and Esha finishing second before delivering a composed display to claim the top spot on the podium.

The win capped a brilliant run for Esha Singh, who has been among India’s standout performers in shooting this year. The 21-year-old had earlier scripted history by setting senior and junior world records in the women’s 25m pistol final at the ISSF World Cup in Munich.

For Manu, the bronze medal added to her growing list of international achievements after she became the first athlete from independent India to win two medals at a single Olympic Games edition during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
