Moderate rainfall lashed Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning, bringing relief from the hot and humid conditions that had persisted across the region over the past several days.
The showers led to a noticeable drop in humidity, making the weather significantly more comfortable for residents.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle near 25 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has forecast more rain in Delhi and adjoining areas later in the day, with showers likely to be accompanied by strong surface winds during the night. Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail over the next three days.
The weather office also said the southwest monsoon is likely to witness a significant revival after remaining relatively inactive for an extended period. The renewed monsoon activity is expected to begin over the northeastern region before gradually advancing across eastern, central and northern parts of the country.
Meteorologists have forecast widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over several regions, with isolated places likely to receive heavy showers as the monsoon regains momentum.
The upcoming spell of rain is expected to provide relief to the Gangetic plains and parts of central India, which have experienced prolonged hot and humid weather in recent weeks, the IMD said.
