Nearly one lakh young people have been connected to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) through the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, with the initiative helping expand awareness and access to industry internship opportunities across the country.
According to information shared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, the Department of Youth Affairs, through MY Bharat, is working with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs to promote PMIS by leveraging its digital platform and nationwide volunteer network.
As part of the collaboration, a dedicated Prime Minister Internship Scheme Volunteer Opportunity has been launched on the MY Bharat portal, enabling eligible youth to learn about the scheme and directly access the PMIS portal for registration and applications.
The Ministry said that as of July 16, 2026, a total of 98,632 youth had been redirected from the MY Bharat portal to the PMIS portal to apply for internships.
Among the states, Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of redirected applicants with 10,838 youth, followed by Maharashtra (10,213), Andhra Pradesh (8,475) and Tamil Nadu (7,125). Other states reporting significant participation included West Bengal (5,093), Madhya Pradesh (5,034), Rajasthan (4,988), Delhi (4,911) and Telangana (4,729).
To strengthen outreach beyond the digital platform, MY Bharat and the Corporate Affairs Ministry have also organised internship and awareness camps aimed at connecting young people directly with participating companies. Three such camps have been held so far in Chennai, Pune and Dantewada, where candidates interacted with employers, learned about available internship roles and received assistance in completing application formalities.
More than 600 youth participated in the Chennai camp, while over 800 attended the outreach programme in Dantewada. The Pune camp recorded participation from 90 youth.
The Ministry said the collaboration between MY Bharat and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs is intended to strengthen the country’s youth employability ecosystem by creating a structured pathway to industry internships. The initiative combines a nationwide digital platform with volunteer-led mobilisation and outreach programmes to improve awareness and access to internship opportunities.
According to the Ministry, the programme seeks to strengthen linkages between youth, industry and government initiatives while supporting the broader vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 by preparing young people with industry exposure and future-ready skills.
