More than 1.22 lakh young people have gained hands-on workplace experience through Experiential Learning Programmes (ELPs) offered on the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, said the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Monday.
According to the Ministry, over 1,22,477 youth have enrolled in nearly 25,063 Experiential Learning Programmes since the launch of the MY Bharat platform. Participants who successfully complete the structured assignments receive jointly validated digital certificates through the MY Bharat portal.
The Experiential Learning Programmes are designed to bridge the gap between academic education and practical work experience by enabling students and young professionals to undertake supervised assignments in government departments, public institutions and partner organisations. The programmes aim to equip participants with professional, functional and leadership skills while exposing them to public service delivery and community engagement.
Participants work under the guidance of host organisations, applying concepts learned in classrooms to real-world environments through office and field-based assignments. Each programme includes defined learning objectives, assigned tasks, supervision and completion requirements to ensure structured learning.
The Ministry said the programmes span multiple sectors, including healthcare, postal services, agriculture, food security, broadcasting, road safety, semiconductor technology, governance, elderly care and community development.
Major initiatives offered through the MY Bharat portal include the India Post Experiential Learning Programme with the Department of Posts, Jan Aushadhi ELP with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), Seva Se Seekhen with State and District Health Departments, the Public Distribution System (PDS) ELP, Sadak Suraksha Mitra in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, CoERS-IIT Madras and SaveLIFE Foundation, the Radio Production and Presentation ELP with Prasar Bharati and the National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia, the Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) ELP, Youth Engagement with Senior Citizens at Care Homes, and a Semiconductor Training Programme with the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Under the implementation framework, partner organisations publish programme details, including eligibility, duration, location and objectives, on the MY Bharat portal. Interested youth apply online, after which host organisations scrutinise applications and select participants. Selected candidates undergo orientation, complete assigned activities under supervision, and are monitored throughout the programme. Upon successful completion and verification by the host organisation, participants receive a jointly validated digital certificate through the portal.
While MY Bharat provides the digital platform, operational framework, programme monitoring and certification system, host organisations are responsible for participant selection, supervision, attendance monitoring and verification. National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officers and Placement Officers also help create awareness and guide eligible students to suitable programmes.
According to the state-wise data released by the Ministry, Maharashtra recorded the highest number of Experiential Learning Programmes with 9,590 programmes and 24,245 applications, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 3,465 programmes and 21,605 applications. Rajasthan received 10,714 applications, while West Bengal recorded 7,496 applications and Tamil Nadu registered 6,667 applications.
