Piyush Goyal holds talks with Finnish firms to boost India-Finland technology, manufacturing ties

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a series of meetings with leading Finnish technology and industrial companies during his visit to Finland, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, innovation, sustainable infrastructure and research.

The engagements followed the India-Finland Business Forum and reflected the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

During his meeting with the leadership of Nokia Corporation, Goyal discussed expanding collaboration in next-generation telecommunications, 5G and 6G technologies, digital infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, research and development, and innovation. The discussions also highlighted Nokia’s longstanding presence in India’s telecom ecosystem and explored opportunities in emerging digital technologies.

At the VTT Technical Research Centre, one of Europe’s leading applied research institutions, the minister held talks on enhancing cooperation in research, innovation, clean technologies, industrial transformation, advanced materials, digitalisation and sustainable development. Both sides also explored avenues for technology transfer and deeper research partnerships between Indian and Finnish institutions.

Goyal also met the Chairman and senior leadership of KONE Corporation. The discussions focused on smart urban infrastructure, elevator and escalator technologies, sustainable construction solutions, advanced manufacturing and localisation. The two sides explored ways to leverage India’s expanding infrastructure sector and manufacturing ecosystem.

In his meeting with Kemppi Group, the minister discussed collaboration in advanced industrial machinery, welding technologies, manufacturing innovation and clean industrial solutions. The talks also covered investment opportunities in India’s manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, including cooperation in EV charging infrastructure and other emerging industrial technologies.

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the interactions reinforced India’s position as a trusted manufacturing and innovation partner while strengthening economic ties with Finland.

The ministry said the visit concluded with a reaffirmation of the shared commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation in technology, innovation, sustainable manufacturing, research and investment, opening new avenues for long-term collaboration across strategic sectors.
