Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended warm greetings to United States President Donald Trump and the people of the United States on the country’s historic 250th anniversary of Independence.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Trump and the people of the United States on the historic 250th anniversary of your Independence.”
Highlighting the close ties between the world’s two largest democracies, he said, “India and the United States share more than a strategic partnership. Our shared belief in democracy, rule of law and the limitless potential of our people make our friendship a force for global good,” the Prime Minister said.
Expressing optimism for the future of bilateral relations, PM Modi added, “May the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace and progress for America and take the India-US partnership to new heights.”
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor thanked PM Modi for his greetings in a post on X.
Marking the milestone, US First Lady Melania Trump also extended greetings, describing freedom as the foundation of individual liberty, innovation and self-determination. In a post on X, she said the values for which America’s founders fought in 1776 continue to define the nation today and wished the country a happy 250th birthday.
The United States is commemorating the 250th anniversary of its independence with year-long celebrations. According to the White House, the nationwide observance began on Memorial Day in 2025 and will continue through the end of 2026, involving federal, state and local governments, educational institutions, private organisations and citizens across the country.
