‘Pride of every BJP worker’: PM Modi lauds Nitin Nabin’s simplicity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised BJP National President Nitin Nabin for his simplicity, humility and high moral character, describing these qualities as a matter of pride for every BJP worker.

Sharing a post on X by a noted journalist and Nabin’s former college friend, the Prime Minister highlighted the BJP leader’s modest lifestyle during his student days despite coming from a political family.

“This simplicity and straightforwardness is a matter of pride for every BJP worker,” said PM Modi while reposting the journalist’s account.

The journalist recalled his friendship with Nabin, which began in 1998 when both moved to Delhi for higher studies after completing their Class 12 examinations. He said that although Nabin was the son of a sitting Bihar MLA, he never projected his political background or sought any special treatment.

According to the journalist, Nabin led an unassuming life, sharing a small room with friends, travelling by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and splitting inexpensive meals to manage expenses. Despite his family’s political standing, he chose to live like any ordinary student and remained grounded throughout his college years.

In another post, the journalist recounted their days in Delhi’s IP Extension, where Nabin and a few friends lived together in modest accommodation in Patparganj because they could not afford a proper flat.

He said Nabin managed all his monthly expenses – including rent, food and college-related costs – within a budget of ₹2,000. The friends also shared household responsibilities, taking turns preparing breakfast, washing utensils and cleaning their room.

Describing Nabin’s personality, the journalist said he was “disciplined, friendly and unassuming,” adding that he never displayed any sense of entitlement despite being the son of a legislator.
