Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked students and young people for their positive response to his recent video on examination reforms and for sharing suggestions to strengthen the country’s examination system.
In a video message shared on Instagram, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to those who watched his address and contributed their feedback.
“Thank you, friends. I had the chance to meet you late last night. The way you responded to my video and shared your positive suggestions was wonderful. Thank you, everyone, for your love. Our relationship will continue to grow stronger and more active. Thank you, friends,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister shared the video with the caption: “Thanks to the youngsters who watched my video yesterday and sent insightful suggestions.”
The message comes a day after PM Modi announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening the integrity of public examinations amid concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
In his address on Thursday, the Prime Minister said the Union Cabinet would consider a draft legislation providing for fast-track courts and stricter punishment for those involved in examination paper leak cases, with the government aiming to introduce the Bill in Parliament during the upcoming week.
Describing paper leaks as a matter of serious concern, PM Modi said such incidents cause distress to lakhs of students and their families. He said the government had taken action against those responsible and ensured that nearly 22 lakh students were able to reappear for the examination without losing an academic year.
The Prime Minister said the proposed legislation would provide for speedy trials through fast-track courts and enhanced penalties for those involved in paper leak cases, with the objective of strengthening the credibility, transparency and fairness of the country’s examination system.
