“UP achieves target of planting 40 crore saplings under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign”: CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state has achieved the target of planting 40 crore saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, describing the milestone as a reflection of the growing strength of “New Uttar Pradesh” in “New India.”

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said the achievement was part of the ‘Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026’ and highlighted the campaign’s role in promoting environmental conservation.

“Under the Vriksharopan Mahayagya-2026, the state has achieved a new milestone by successfully meeting the target of planting 40 crore saplings under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. This is a triumphant proclamation of the newfound strength of ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ in ‘New India’,” Yogi Adityanath said.

He said the campaign represents gratitude towards nature, responsibility towards future generations and a commitment to preserving life.

The Chief Minister urged people to make tree plantation a part of their daily lives and celebrations by linking it with family occasions, festivals and other important events.

“By connecting auspicious family occasions, festive events and special days with tree planting, we can fulfil our duty towards nature. These saplings will lay the foundation for a green, secure and prosperous state for future generations,” he said.

Speaking at the launch event, he said the Earth provides a favourable environment, food, water and opportunities for development, making environmental protection a collective responsibility.

He also planted a sapling under the campaign. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak participated in the plantation drive at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University and appealed to citizens to plant trees in the name of their mothers.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to encourage public participation in environmental conservation and increase green cover across the country.
