Uttarakhand CM Dhami credits PM Modi, double-engine government as he completes five years in office

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the “double-engine government” for the state’s governance and development initiatives as he completed five years in office.

Addressing the people of Uttarakhand, Dhami said he had completed five years of public service as the state’s “Chief Servant” with the love, trust, and blessings of its people. According to an official release, he dedicated this journey of service, good governance, and public welfare to the trust, aspirations, and support of Uttarakhand’s 12.5 million residents.

The Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance and the commitment of the double-engine government, several landmark decisions have been taken over the past five years while giving top priority to development and preserving the state’s cultural identity.

He listed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), a stringent Anti-Cheating Law, an Anti-Conversion Law, a strengthened Land Law, and the abolition of the Madrasa Board with the establishment of the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority as key initiatives that have set a new benchmark in the country.

Dhami said these measures have positioned Uttarakhand as a leading state in good governance, equality, and transparency. He added that the government has also made significant progress in ensuring transparent recruitment for youth, providing 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs, promoting investment and employment, improving connectivity, and accelerating the development of religious and tourism infrastructure, including the Char Dham.

He said more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs through a transparent recruitment process.

Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, Dhami said several schemes have been implemented for the empowerment of soldiers, farmers, youth, and women. He added that solar energy, homestays, and self-employment have received a major boost, while a record influx of pilgrims and tourists has strengthened tourism and the local economy. He also said the “House of Himalayas” initiative has helped local products gain global recognition.

The Chief Minister further said the successful hosting of the National Games, the grounding of investment projects worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore, and Uttarakhand’s strong performance in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have opened new avenues for the state’s development.

According to the release, Dhami also announced the launch of the second phase of the “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” campaign from Saturday. The initiative aims to strengthen the government’s outreach by addressing public grievances, ensuring the last-mile delivery of welfare schemes, and reinforcing the spirit of service and good governance.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said it would continue to accelerate the state’s journey towards public welfare, good governance, and prosperity with the trust, support, and active participation of the people, while working towards the vision of “Viksit Uttarakhand, Viksit Bharat.”
