The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised Tiranga Yatras across the Outer Delhi, North East, Karol Bagh, Keshavpuram and Shahdara districts as part of events marking the 80th Independence Day.
Speaking at the North East Delhi Tiranga Yatra on Thursday, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said the national flag was not merely a piece of cloth but a symbol of the dedication of 1.4 billion Indians towards the nation.
He said India was holding its head high globally under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that the yatra would inspire young people to contribute to nation-building.
Tiwari led the yatra from the BJP district office in Yamuna Vihar to Ghonda Chowk. Delhi BJP General Secretary Mohan Lal Gihara, MLAs Ajay Mahawar and Surya Prakash Khatri, NDMC member Dinesh Pratap Singh, District President U.K. Chaudhary, state BJP leader Gaurav Khari and senior leader Brijesh Rai were among those who participated.
Delhi BJP co-in-charge and MP Alka Gurjar joined the Tiranga Yatra led by Outer Delhi MP Yogendra Chandolia. The procession began at Pol Star School in Sector 2 and concluded at Baleshwar Temple.
MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Manoj Shokeen and Gajendra Daral, District President Vikram Gupta, senior leader Vinay Rawat and thousands of party workers participated in the yatra.
The Karol Bagh district yatra was led by BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Gautam and Delhi BJP General Secretary Vishnu Mittal. Former Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, District President Virendra Babbar, state office bearer Abhishek Tandon and Municipal Councillor Manish Chadha were among the participants.
A Tiranga Yatra was also organised in Keshavpuram district under the leadership of Delhi BJP General Secretary Yogita Singh. District President Ajay Khattana, MLAs Raj Kumar Bhatia and Poonam Bhardwaj, senior Municipal Councillor Mukesh Goyal and Yogesh Verma participated.
In Shahdara, a Tiranga Yatra was taken out from Lovely Public School to Vikas Marg under the leadership of District President Deepak Gaba. MLAs Abhay Verma, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Om Prakash Sharma, Sanjay Goyal and Anil Goyal, among others, participated.
Addressing the Outer Delhi yatra, Gurjar said she felt proud to participate in the event and described the Tiranga as a symbol of the nation’s honour, pride and glory.
“This yatra is a resolve to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to every household,” she said, appealing to people to join the campaign and contribute towards making India a ‘Vishwaguru’.
Chandolia described the Outer Delhi Tiranga Yatra as a celebration of patriotism and said the national flag symbolised the sacrifices of martyrs.
At a time when the country was coming together in the spirit of unity and integrity, the yatra conveyed the message of “Nation First”, he said.
Chandolia congratulated party workers and citizens for the successful event and urged people to work towards strengthening the pride associated with the national flag and contributing to the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
