India on Thursday successfully concluded the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with member countries adopting a Joint Declaration aimed at strengthening industrial cooperation and promoting resilient, innovation-driven and sustainable growth across the BRICS bloc.
Held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the meeting brought together Industry Ministers and senior representatives from BRICS member countries to conclude ministerial-level engagements under the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR).
Addressing the meeting, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said BRICS countries must translate shared aspirations into practical innovation and cooperation by leveraging their complementary strengths to build resilient industries. He described Jaipur as a city that seamlessly blends centuries of craftsmanship with the aspirations of a modern industrial economy and noted that PartNIR has evolved into the principal mechanism for industrial collaboration among BRICS nations.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening industrial partnerships among BRICS member countries and stressed the importance of cooperation, innovation and mutual trust in building a resilient and inclusive industrial future.
Recalling that the BRICS journey began with the inaugural summit in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2009, Goyal appreciated Brazil’s leadership during its 2025 Chairship and said India would carry forward the legacy through an incremental, proactive and pragmatic approach focused on continuity and practical cooperation.
The Minister highlighted the progress achieved under India’s BRICS Chairship through PartNIR, particularly the work carried out by the Advisory Group and thematic Working Groups across four priority areas identified by India.
Among the key outcomes was the finalisation of the Framework for Cooperation in the SME Working Group, aimed at strengthening MSME ecosystems across BRICS countries. The meeting also adopted the Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the BRICS Working Group on the Photovoltaic Industry, establishing a structured framework for cooperation in the clean energy sector.
India also advanced its agenda on innovation-led growth by finalising an Action Plan for Startups and proposing the creation of a BRICS Incubator Network and a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to strengthen collaboration among emerging enterprises and promote innovation across member countries.
The meeting also emphasised the importance of resilient transport and logistics systems for industrial growth, highlighting initiatives such as GIS-based infrastructure planning and city logistics planning to improve industrial connectivity and supply chain resilience.
A major outcome of the ministerial meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting, reflecting the collective commitment of member countries to move beyond dialogue towards implementing practical mechanisms that strengthen industries and improve livelihoods.
During the deliberations, Industry Ministers and heads of delegation shared their national experiences and policy initiatives aimed at accelerating industrial development, digital transformation, technological innovation and resilient manufacturing ecosystems. Delegations also welcomed the progress made under India’s Chairship, noting that the initiatives undertaken through PartNIR would strengthen institutional cooperation, innovation, capacity building and future-ready industrial development across BRICS countries.
India will also be hosting the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, following the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) held in New Delhi on August 3 and 4.
The Trade Ministers’ Meeting, to be chaired by Goyal, will bring together trade ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries to discuss strengthening the multilateral trading system, enhancing MSME participation in international trade, building resilient and diversified global value chains and facilitating digitally delivered cross-border services.
The meeting is expected to reaffirm India’s commitment to promoting an open, inclusive, transparent, equitable and rules-based multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core, while supporting the country’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 through resilient supply chains, innovation-driven growth and deeper economic cooperation among emerging economies.
On the sidelines of the ministerial meetings, Goyal held bilateral discussions with Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa, Egypt’s Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem Ali Maher, and South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau.
The discussions focused on expanding trade and investment ties, enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, energy, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and critical minerals, and advancing negotiations on the proposed India-SACU Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to strengthen India’s economic engagement with partner countries.
