Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday launched 25 new Atal Canteens in the national capital on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, taking the total number of canteens under the scheme to 100.
The ceremony was also attended by former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, BJP’s Manoj Tiwari and Minister Ashish Sood among others.
“On the birth anniversary of the revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, the resolve taken on 25 December 2025 to launch 100 Atal Canteens has been fulfilled today on his death anniversary. Honorable former Vice President Shri @MVenkaiahNaidu ji inaugurated 25 new Atal Canteens from Timarpur and dedicated them to serving the people of Delhi. From today, through these 100 Atal Canteens, nutritious meals will be available for just ₹5 to approximately 1 lakh laborers and needy families every day. Along with this, our government has fulfilled another promise made to the people of Delhi,” said Rekha Gupta in a post on X.

It is a living tribute to Atal Ji’s vision of Antyodaya, carrying the spirit of service, dignity and nourishment to those who need it most,” said Rekha Gupta in another post on X.
She said that the occasion marks the completion of 100 Atal Canteens in the capital city.
Atal Canteen scheme was launched by the Delhi government on December 25, 2025, marking the birth anniversary of Vajpayee, and serves nutritious meals at Rs 5 per plate.
