Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 1,368 newly recruited teachers at a programme held at Bharat Mandapam, reiterating the Delhi government’s commitment to providing quality education and a bright future for students.
Of the appointees, 1,015 are Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), 236 are Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) and 117 are music teachers.
Gupta said the occasion was not merely about handing over appointment letters but also about strengthening the responsibility of ensuring better education for lakhs of children and their families in the national capital.
“Delhi is a city of dreams for people who have come from different parts of the country, and every child studying in a Delhi government school is a child of Delhi,” she said.
Ensuring better education, healthcare and a bright future for every child remains the government’s foremost commitment, the chief minister said.
The addition of new teachers would provide better academic support, guidance and new opportunities to thousands of students in Delhi government schools, Gupta said. She added that the recruitment drive was an important step towards filling vacant posts and strengthening teaching capacity in government schools.
Education Minister Ashish Sood said the induction of 1,368 teachers into Delhi’s education system was not merely an increase in the number of appointments but an important step towards strengthening the future of thousands of students.
“Our goal is clear: wherever a teacher is needed, a teacher should be available; wherever a subject expert is required, there should be a specialist teacher; and every child in Delhi should have an equal opportunity to receive quality education,” Sood said.
Senior officials of the Directorate of Education and other dignitaries were also present at the programme.
