Delhi likely to receive rain on Raksha Bandhan; dry spell forecast from August 29

Delhi is likely to receive rainfall on Friday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting cloudy skies and moderate showers in several parts of the national capital on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to remain around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle at about 26 degrees Celsius.

However, weather conditions are likely to turn relatively dry from August 29. The IMD has forecast a low probability of rainfall in the national capital from August 29 to September 2, potentially providing residents a brief respite from the recent showers.

Weather conditions have remained changeable across Delhi-NCR, including Noida and Ghaziabad. Several areas received rainfall on Thursday, bringing temporary relief from heat and humidity, while some parts of the region are likely to witness showers on Friday as well.

The recent rainfall has resulted in a dip in temperatures and provided relief from sultry conditions. The IMD said the southwest monsoon remains active over Delhi and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, the weather department has issued rainfall and thunderstorm alerts for several districts of Uttarakhand. Areas including Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal and Rishikesh are likely to experience adverse weather conditions.

Delhi experienced hot and humid conditions on Thursday, with high humidity levels adding to the discomfort. Rainfall in parts of the city during the evening, however, brought temporary relief.

The IMD has advised residents to remain updated on local weather forecasts, particularly in areas where thunderstorms and heavy rainfall have been forecast.
