Delhi-NCR is likely to witness cloudy skies and intermittent light rainfall over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting another spell of rain on August 12 and 13.
Residents woke up to a humid Monday morning as high moisture levels persisted despite recent spells of rain. The IMD said temperatures are likely to remain near or slightly below normal in the coming days, while maximum temperatures are expected to remain broadly unchanged over the next week.
According to the forecast, Delhi may receive very light rain on August 12 and 13, with one or two spells likely during the period. Rainfall activity is expected to remain limited overall.
Winds are likely to shift from northeast to southwest on August 12 and from northwest to west on August 13, with speeds of 10-15 kmph.
Light to very light rain is also expected in parts of Delhi on August 14 and 15. Westerly winds are likely on August 14, followed by northwesterly winds on August 15, with wind speeds remaining around 10-15 kmph.
The region witnessed widespread rainfall from Friday, with several areas receiving heavy showers over the weekend. The rain brought down daytime temperatures but also resulted in waterlogging and severe traffic congestion in several parts of Delhi-NCR.
According to IMD data, August 8 was the wettest day in the capital in the last two years. As of Sunday morning, 98.7 mm of rainfall had been recorded in the preceding 24 hours, the highest single-day rainfall in August since 2024.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 34 degrees Celsius. Cloudy conditions are likely to persist, with light to moderate rain possible at isolated places.
Despite the intermittent showers, humidity is likely to remain high, limiting the relief from the prevailing sultry conditions.
