Delhi-NCR is expected to experience generally cloudy skies with light rainfall on Saturday, providing relief from the recent spell of intense heat, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, high humidity levels are likely to persist, causing discomfort despite the relatively pleasant weather.
Residents woke up to overcast skies on Saturday after weather conditions improved over the past few days following prolonged heat and oppressive humidity. On Friday, intermittent drizzles and cloud cover brought temporary respite, although humidity remained elevated across the region.
According to the IMD, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius on Friday, 0.6 degrees above the seasonal average. Safdarjung, the city’s primary weather station, also recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, while Palam registered 33.5 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees below normal.
For Saturday, the weather department has forecast a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of approximately 25 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity is expected to range between 75 and 95 per cent, with light rain likely in several parts of the National Capital Region.
The IMD has not issued any specific weather warning for Delhi-NCR on Saturday.
The prevailing weather pattern is expected to continue over the next few days. On August 2, the national capital is likely to witness cloudy skies with light rain, with temperatures remaining around 33 degrees Celsius during the day and 25 degrees Celsius at night.
A similar forecast has been issued for August 3, when the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 33 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively. Light showers and overcast conditions are likely to persist.
On August 4, Delhi-NCR is expected to remain under cloudy skies, with light rainfall forecast across several areas. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may fall to 23 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the IMD has warned of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds across 19 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Wind speeds of up to 60 kmph are expected in several regions.
The weather department has advised farmers and fishermen to exercise caution. It has also warned that hilly states could face an increased risk of landslides due to heavy rainfall, while isolated areas may experience hailstorms.
