Delhi-NCR received light to moderate rainfall on Saturday morning, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued showers, isolated heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the region over the next 24 hours.
The weather is expected to remain unsettled through the day, with generally cloudy skies and intermittent light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the national capital and adjoining areas. Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad may witness intense spells of rain, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated locations.
Heavy showers could lead to waterlogging and traffic disruptions, particularly during peak hours, while commuters travelling through Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad may face delays due to rain-related congestion.
According to the latest forecast, Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are also expected over parts of the region.
The weather alert for Delhi-NCR is part of a broader forecast covering several states across the country. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, while several northeastern states are also likely to witness significant rainfall activity.
Konkan and Goa, Gujarat and Rajasthan may receive heavy showers, while parts of southern India, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, are likely to experience widespread rainfall. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds have also been forecast for several of these regions.
Active monsoon conditions are expected to continue across the country until August 27.
