Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will undertake the annual performance review of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in New Delhi on September 1, with a focus on developing indigenous technologies and enhancing defence exports, the Ministry of Defence said on Monday.
During the review, the CMDs of seven DPSUs — Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), BEML and MIDHANI — will present dividend cheques to the Defence Minister towards the government’s equity share for the financial year 2025-26.
The performance of DPSUs during FY 2025-26 has been strong, with their combined turnover reaching Rs 1.29 lakh crore, registering a growth of 15.4 per cent over the previous financial year.
The DPSUs recorded a cumulative Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 23,136 crore during FY26, marking a 15.6 per cent increase over the previous year.
Defence exports by DPSUs also witnessed a sharp rise, increasing by 151.2 per cent during FY26 compared to the previous financial year.
The event will also see the release of four publications focused on self-reliance, defence technology awareness and modernisation.
These include ‘Aatmanirbhar DPSU – A Journey of DPSUs Towards Self-Reliance’; DISHA, an initiative aimed at providing students with hands-on awareness of defence technologies and modern manufacturing processes; and the Modernisation Roadmap of HAL and Indigenisation Roadmap of HAL.
The annual review comes amid the government’s continued emphasis on strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing, developing domestic technologies and expanding India’s presence in global defence markets.
The review is expected to focus on the performance of DPSUs against these broader objectives, including enhancing self-reliance, strengthening technological capabilities and increasing defence exports.
The Ministry said the exercise will underscore the importance of developing new indigenous technologies and enhancing exports, in line with the government’s broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
