Health Ministry Holds Two-Day National Conference of MDOs to Strengthen Mission Karmayogi Implementation

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organised a two-day National Conference of Ministries, Departments and Organisations (MDOs) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW) on August 20-21, 2026, in New Delhi, aimed at strengthening organisational capacity for the effective implementation of Mission Karmayogi.

Organised by the Training Division of the DoHFW in collaboration with the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and Karmayogi Bharat, the conference brought together representatives from 140 institutes under the department.

The event provided a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration, with a focus on promoting a whole-of-government approach and breaking organisational silos.

Dr Alka Mittal, Member, Capacity Building Commission, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest, while Rakesh Verma, Chief Operating Officer, Karmayogi Bharat, was also present.

On the second day, Dr Vinod Kotwal, Additional Secretary (Training), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, emphasised the importance of capacity building and encouraged MDOs to contribute to Health Domain courses for caregivers, nursing and allied health professionals, geriatric care and other priority areas.

She also urged the organisations to strengthen initiatives such as Capacity Building Units (CBUs) and expedite the finalisation of the Annual Capacity Building Plan (ACBP) for 2026-27.

Top-performing MDOs were felicitated for their contribution during Sadhana Saptah, which helped the Department of Health and Family Welfare secure the third rank in the category of organisations with more than 50,000 employees.

The conference concluded with presentations on achievements, challenges and the way forward, followed by the distribution of certificates to participants.
