Heavy rain continued to lash Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Tuesday, causing widespread waterlogging on roads, service lanes and in residential areas, while the city’s Adarsh vegetable market was also flooded.
The latest spell of rain began on Monday night and intensified across Dausa city and surrounding areas on Tuesday morning.
Continuous rainfall led to water accumulation on service lanes along the highway, major roads and several residential colonies. Overflowing drains in many areas spilled onto roads, exposing shortcomings in the Municipal Council’s drainage system and causing inconvenience to residents.
The Adarsh vegetable market was among the worst-affected areas, with water flooding the premises and vegetables seen floating in the market. Traders expressed concern over potential losses.
The rainfall, however, brought relief from the humid conditions, with a drop in temperature making the weather more pleasant.
Farmers welcomed the showers, saying the timely rainfall would benefit standing crops and help revive crop growth.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in the district over the next 24 to 48 hours. The district administration has issued an advisory, urging residents to exercise caution, particularly in low-lying and waterlogged areas and at locations with strong water currents.
Children and elderly people have also been advised to avoid areas prone to waterlogging.
