Heavy rains lashed Jaipur and other parts of eastern Rajasthan on Monday, disrupting traffic and causing waterlogging in many places.
Kherthal-Tijara in Alwar district, which falls under the National Capital Region (NCR), received heavy rainfall, and many areas were flooded.
Markets, roads, residential colonies, and low-lying areas in Kishangarhbas town were also inundated due to rain.
Jaipur, Alwar, Dholpur, Karauli, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur, and Dausa received rain. Cars and two-wheelers were seen wading through the Moti Dungri Road in Jaipur, which was completely submerged.
Earlier in the day, the weather office said that rainfall activity is likely to increase in several parts of Rajasthan, with heavy rain at isolated places, particularly in the eastern region.
According to the department, a low-pressure area formed over eastern India is currently situated over northern Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. A monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, Nizamabad and the low-pressure area. Under its influence, rainfall activity is likely to increase in some parts of the Kota, Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions of eastern Rajasthan between August 24 and 26, with heavy rain expected at isolated places, it said.
Light to moderate rainfall is also likely in some parts of the Udaipur and Ajmer divisions in the period.
Weak monsoon conditions are likely to continue over most parts of western Rajasthan’s Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions next week.
Maximum temperatures in the border areas of western Rajasthan are likely to remain between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius during the period, the met department said. During the 24 hours ending Monday morning, weather remained mainly dry in western Rajasthan.
