India committed to deepening economic ties with Singapore, Asia: Piyush Goyal

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has underlined India’s focus on strengthening economic ties with Singapore and expanding business partnerships across Asia, with greater emphasis on business-to-business collaboration.

Addressing INSEAD alumni and students, Singaporean entrepreneurs and Indian businesses at the India-Singapore Business Forum, Goyal highlighted India’s growth trajectory, investment opportunities and government efforts to improve the ease of doing business under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“Highlighted India’s strong growth trajectory, investment opportunities, and the Government’s efforts under the leadership of PM @NarendraModi to enhance the ease of doing business,” Goyal said in a post on X.

Goyal also highlighted opportunities for Indian farmers and processed food manufacturers to expand their footprint in Singapore and subsequently access markets across the ASEAN region and Australia.

He met Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang and other dignitaries at an APEDA-FairPrice roadshow-cum-in-store promotion aimed at boosting exports of Indian agricultural and processed food products.

The initiative is showcasing a range of products, including organic produce, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, dairy products, cashews, rice, millet-based products and products sourced from different regions of India, Goyal said.

The minister also met Sopnendu Mohanty, Group CEO of Global Finance and Technology Network, a Singapore-based global advisory and investment firm. The two discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation between India and Singapore in financial innovation, technology and emerging areas of the digital economy.

“We also exchanged views on how India’s dynamic financial ecosystem and Singapore’s global financial and technology network offer significant opportunities for greater collaboration,” Goyal said.

Goyal also held a meeting with Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel Infrastructure, during his Singapore visit.

He also joined Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada for the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, where the Indian delegation engaged with its Singaporean counterparts.
