Kanwar Yatra 2026: Varanasi DM reviews security, arrangements at Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Monday inspected the Kashi Vishwanath Temple complex and reviewed arrangements for the large number of Kanwariyas and devotees visiting the shrine during the holy month of Shravan.

The DM directed officials to ensure smooth and systematic darshan, cleanliness, security and adequate facilities for pilgrims amid the expected crowds.

During the inspection, Kumar interacted with devotees who had arrived to offer prayers to Baba Vishwanath and sought feedback on arrangements, including drinking water, cleanliness, transportation and the darshan process.

Extending greetings to devotees and people of the state on the second Monday of Shravan, Kumar prayed for the blessings of Lord Shiva and wished everyone happiness, peace, prosperity and good health.

He instructed officials to maintain cleanliness inside the temple premises and surrounding areas and ensure that devotees have convenient and orderly access to darshan. Officials were also directed to strengthen crowd-management arrangements.

The DM reviewed the security arrangements from the control room and monitored CCTV cameras to assess the movement and safety of devotees.

He said ensuring better facilities for devotees arriving from across the country and abroad to offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple remains a priority for the district administration.

Kumar stressed the need for all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims.

Officials from various departments and the temple administration were present during the inspection.
