Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urges youth to uphold democratic values, contribute to Viksit Bharat

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday extended greetings to the people of the country on the eve of India’s 80th Independence Day and called upon the youth to uphold constitutional and democratic values while contributing to the nation’s development.

In his Independence Day message, LS Speaker Birla paid tribute to the countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to securing India’s independence and said the country, nearly eight decades after gaining freedom, must now work with a renewed resolve to build a nation that leads the world across sectors.

Highlighting India’s demographic strength, the Lok Sabha Speaker noted that around 65 per cent of the country’s population is below the age of 35. He said the youth are driving India’s progress in areas including education and science and have the potential to propel the country further.

LS Speaker Birla stressed that young people must embrace the constitutional and democratic values of the country in their daily lives. He urged them to align their aspirations with India’s development goals and view the fulfilment of their duties as an important means of contributing to nation-building.

“On this Independence Day, let us all pledge to play our part in building a strong, self-reliant, and developed India,” LS Speaker Birla said.

He concluded his message by extending his best wishes to citizens on Independence Day and saying, “Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”
