Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal on Friday inaugurated a Har Ghar Tiranga kiosk at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi as part of the nationwide campaign being observed from August 9 to 17.
The event, organised by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), witnessed participation from senior officials, representatives of organisations based at the India Habitat Centre and schoolchildren.
Speaking at the event, Manohar Lal urged citizens to participate wholeheartedly in the campaign and proudly hoist the National Flag at their homes. He said the Tiranga was far more than a national symbol, representing India’s hard-earned freedom, unity, identity, dignity and the collective aspirations of its people.
Interacting with children, the Minister highlighted the sacrifices made to secure India’s independence and encouraged young people to understand the value of freedom and carry forward the country’s national values. He urged them to make the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign a personal expression of patriotism.
The Minister also appreciated HUDCO’s efforts to take the campaign to citizens through its offices and outreach activities and called for greater public participation to make it a nationwide celebration of national unity, pride and collective responsibility.
As part of its contribution to the campaign, HUDCO will distribute more than 5,000 National Flags through the kiosk at the India Habitat Centre and its regional offices across the country.
The India Habitat Centre was decorated in the colours of the Tricolour for the occasion. Selfie points themed around the National Flag were also set up to encourage participants to capture and share their patriotic moments.
Children from the Habitat Learning Centre added to the celebrations with a rendition of Vande Mataram. The Minister subsequently distributed National Flags among the children and encouraged them to participate in the campaign with pride and enthusiasm.
The event brought together people from different age groups, who participated in the celebrations and expressed their pride in the National Flag and the spirit of unity and patriotism associated with the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
