Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said the state was committed to clean energy, modern technology and industrial growth as he and Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated two manufacturing units worth a combined Rs 650 crore in Dhar district.
The units at the Pithampur industrial area will manufacture optical fibre and battery energy storage systems.
“This initiative reflects the vision of clean energy, modern technology and industrial growth that our state is committed to,” Yadav said at the inauguration of the two Pratap Group units at the Smart Industrial Park.
He urged the business group to bring in more such investments to MP. “Together, we can strengthen our economy, empower our people and make our state a hub of innovation and opportunity,” Yadav said.
Shekhawat said advanced technologies would play an important role in India’s growth in the digital and artificial intelligence era.
“Reliable power supply and high-level connectivity are essential, and optical fibre and storage systems will bridge this gap, enabling secure harnessing of solar and wind energy,” he said.
According to a release by the business group, Corsis Industries has set up the optical fibre manufacturing plant entailing a cost of about Rs 350 crore. The facility, spread over 8,067 square metres, has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million fibre kilometres and is expected to generate around 300 direct and indirect jobs, it said.
The optical fibre produced at the unit will cater to broadband connectivity, 5G networks, fibre-to-the-home services, data centres, smart cities, defence and other strategic communication infrastructure, the release said.
The other unit, Voltters Technologies Pvt Ltd, will manufacture battery energy storage systems and lithium-ion battery solutions at a cost of nearly Rs 300 crore.
The facility, spread over 20,505 square metres, has a production capacity of 3 GWh and is expected to generate around 250 direct and indirect employment opportunities, the release said.
The Pratap Group has proposed a total investment of more than Rs 1,140 crore in Pithampur, it added.
