NDA’s final ‘Mangal Milan’ of Monsoon Session today; health and water initiatives on agenda

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will hold its last parliamentary party meeting of the Monsoon Session today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders are likely to attend the meeting.

The weekly gathering, now branded “Mangal Milan”, is aimed at synchronising floor strategy among NDA partners and finalising legislative priorities for the remaining days of the session.

As per reports, today’s meeting will feature two key presentations: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on the “Jan Aushadhi” initiative and Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil on “Jal Shakti”. These briefings are intended to update MPs on flagship government programmes and align messaging ahead of further parliamentary business.

Convened each Tuesday during parliamentary sittings, the Mangal Milan gathering functions as a coordination platform for the ruling coalition to align on legislative agendas, steer day-to-day floor tactics, and foster consensus across partner parties. The last such meeting in this Monsoon Session took place on August 4, as the government mapped out its approach for the closing phase.

Amid fierce contestation over major bills and sustained opposition disruptions, maintaining unity within the alliance and enforcing tight floor discipline have become vital for the government. With the session nearing its end and only a handful of sitting days remaining, today’s Mangal Milan is set to define the NDA’s strategy for handling debates and wrapping up pending legislative business before adjournment.
