Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday extended his heartfelt greetings to senior citizens on the occasion of Senior Citizens Day, acknowledging their wisdom, sacrifices and enduring contribution to society.
“On Senior Citizens Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all our elders. Their wisdom and sacrifices have shaped our society,” said Sarma in a post on X.
He also highlighted the provision of special leave for government employees to enable them to care for their ageing parents. The initiative is aimed at allowing employees to spend quality time with and support their elderly parents while continuing to fulfil their professional responsibilities.
“Our Government remains committed to ensuring they live with dignity and care through meaningful initiatives including special leave for government employees to look after their ageing parents while continuing to strengthen support for every senior citizen,” further said Sarma in the post.
