Once again, Indian economy trumped global uncertainties: HM Amit Shah on Q1 GDP data

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the Indian economy has once again trumped global uncertainties after the country secured a GDP growth of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter of FY 2026-27.

HM Shah also said this stands as a testament to the “visionary” leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Indian economy growing from strength to strength against global odds under Modi govt. Once again, the Indian economy has trumped global uncertainties and secured a GDP growth of 7.8% in Q1 of FY 2026-27,” he said in a post on X.

“This stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of Modi Ji, which has filled our nation with resilience to emerge successful regardless of how severe the global storm is. My heartiest congratulations to every citizen on this remarkable achievement,” the HM added.

India’s economy grew at a faster-than-expected 7.8 per cent in the April-June quarter, showing resilience in the face of concerns that the war in Iran and resulting global economic uncertainty could weigh on growth.

Real Gross Domestic Product, or GDP at constant prices, in the first quarter of FY27 is estimated at Rs 81.36 lakh crore, against Rs 75.46 lakh crore in the corresponding quarter of 2025-26, showing a growth rate of 7.8 per cent, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said.
