Piyush Goyal Reaffirms India’s Economic Strength and Investment Opportunities During Singapore Visit

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said he met several global business leaders during his visit to Singapore, highlighting India’s strong economic fundamentals, investment-led reforms and expanding opportunities across sectors.

Goyal met Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Temasek Holdings, and discussed ways to deepen investment linkages and strengthen Temasek’s engagement with India’s growth story.

The minister reiterated that India’s strong economic fundamentals, investment-led reforms and growing opportunities across sectors offer significant potential for long-term partnerships.

In a separate meeting with a delegation led by Mark Lee, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, Goyal discussed opportunities to deepen business-to-business engagement and further expand trade and investment ties between India and Singapore.

He emphasised the vital role of business communities in strengthening economic partnerships, fostering greater collaboration and unlocking new opportunities for companies in both countries.

Goyal also met Leo Puri, Chairman of Fortis Healthcare, and Dr Prem Nair, Group CEO of IHH Healthcare, to discuss opportunities for expanding India-Singapore cooperation in the healthcare sector.

“We discussed opportunities to deepen India-Singapore cooperation in healthcare and strengthen partnerships in this important sector,” Goyal said in a post on X.

He added that India’s growing healthcare ecosystem offers significant opportunities for global investors and institutions seeking to participate in the country’s development journey.

The Commerce and Industry Minister also met Brian Shuptrine, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Turner & Townsend, and discussed India’s expanding infrastructure and development landscape, along with opportunities for greater participation by global investors and partners.

“India’s investment-led growth is creating new opportunities across infrastructure and allied sectors,” Goyal said.

Earlier, Goyal reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening economic partnerships with Singapore and other countries across Asia while promoting stronger business-to-business collaboration.

Addressing INSEAD alumni and students, Singaporean entrepreneurs and representatives of Indian businesses at the India-Singapore Business Forum in Singapore, Goyal said he had an insightful interaction with Professor Sameer Hasija.

He highlighted India’s strong growth trajectory, investment opportunities and the government’s efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the ease of doing business.

The meetings were held as part of Goyal’s engagements in Singapore aimed at strengthening trade, investment and business partnerships between India and Singapore.
