Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from August 24 to 27, leading India’s largest-ever business delegation to the country as New Delhi and Tokyo seek to deepen bilateral trade and investment ties.

Goyal will travel to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka with a delegation comprising more than 200 business representatives from sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare and start-ups.

During his visit to Tokyo, Goyal will hold meetings with senior leaders of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial houses and participate in a round-table with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents more than 1,500 leading Japanese companies.

Dedicated sessions on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, start-ups and engagement with foreign institutional investors are also scheduled.

Goyal will hold bilateral talks with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akazawa Ryosei and meet senior members of the Japanese Government and Parliament. He will also interact with the Indian community in Japan.

In Nagoya, the industrial hub of Central Japan, Goyal will lead a roadshow with Chukeiren, the Central Japan Economic Federation, and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He is also scheduled to engage with the Aichi Prefecture leadership and major manufacturing investors from the automotive and steel sectors.

The visit will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow, along with meetings with leading Japanese companies from the electronics, industrial and consumer sectors.

The engagements are aimed at showcasing investment opportunities in India’s manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets.

Japan has been a key partner for India in investment, technology and industrial cooperation, with Japanese companies having a significant presence across India’s automotive, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure sectors.

The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment ties and create new avenues for cooperation in high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries, in line with India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @2047.
