PM Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh pay tribute to freedom fighters on Quit India Movement, Kakori Train Action anniversaries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday paid tribute to the freedom fighters who participated in the Quit India Movement and the Kakori Train Action, recalling their courage, sacrifice and contribution to India’s struggle for independence.

Remembering the Quit India Movement, PM Modi said in a post on X, “Remembering all those who participated in the historic Quit India Movement. Their courage will always remain an inspiration for every Indian. Inspired by the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, the clarion call of Quit India infused new energy into our freedom struggle and reflected the unwavering determination of our people to break free from colonial rule.”

The Quit India Movement was launched under Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership on August 8, 1942, and became a defining chapter of India’s freedom struggle.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the movement as a historic chapter that united the people and instilled in them the resolve of “Do or Die” and the courage to fight for freedom from British rule.

Paying tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for India’s liberation, HM Shah said the occasion of the August Revolution should inspire citizens to place national interest above all else, embrace Swadeshi, strengthen self-reliance and work towards the goal of a developed India.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also described the Quit India Movement as an immortal chapter in India’s history, reflecting the nation’s collective strength, resolve and unwavering faith in freedom.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi and the freedom fighters and martyrs who devoted themselves to the independence struggle, Singh said the freedom achieved through their sacrifice, dedication and struggle constituted India’s great national heritage. He said working to build a strong, prosperous, self-reliant and developed India would be a true tribute to those who fought for the country’s freedom.

HM Shah and Defence Minister Singh also paid homage to the revolutionaries associated with the Kakori Train Action, recalling its role in India’s armed revolutionary movement against British rule.

HM Shah described the Kakori Train Action as an unforgettable chapter in the freedom struggle that gave fresh impetus to the armed revolution against colonial injustice and oppression. He said the revolutionaries demonstrated through their courage and dedication that the resources of the country rightfully belonged to its people.

Singh, marking the anniversary of the Kakori Train Action, said the event was not merely a courageous action against colonial rule but also represented the unwavering resolve of the youth of that era to dedicate themselves completely to the cause of an independent India.

Singh paid tribute to Chandrashekhar Azad, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan and their comrades, saying their sacrifices served as a reminder that India’s independence was achieved through the struggle and sacrifice of countless brave freedom fighters.

He called upon citizens to preserve the invaluable legacy of the freedom struggle and strengthen their commitment to building a strong, prosperous, self-reliant and developed India.
