Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Wednesday inaugurated a newly constructed multi-level car parking facility at the Defence Offices Complex on Africa Avenue in New Delhi, describing it as a significant step towards upgrading urban infrastructure with modern, technology-driven solutions.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration, Seth said the Central Government remains committed to developing and upgrading urban infrastructure to provide world-class facilities. He emphasised that the adoption of advanced technologies is essential for addressing infrastructure challenges in metropolitan cities, where land availability is limited.
Calling the project an important initiative to ease parking constraints at the Defence Offices Complex, the Minister said such infrastructure projects not only optimise the use of available space but also improve workplace efficiency by replacing conventional systems with modern technologies.
The newly built 14-storey parking facility uses a fully automated robotic (dolly)-based parking system designed to maximise parking capacity within the available land parcel. According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the automated system is around 60 per cent more space-efficient than conventional parking facilities.
Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹45 crore, the facility is equipped with CCTV surveillance and an advanced fire safety system. The automated technology also ensures minimal human intervention while eliminating vehicle emissions after vehicles enter the lift lobby.
Seth also commended the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for completing the project within the stipulated timeline. He praised the quality, convenience and architectural appeal of several other recently completed CPWD projects, including MP Flats, Kartavya Bhawans and the Executive Enclave.
