Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi on Thursday chaired a review meeting in Kolkata to assess the implementation of key Ministry of Women and Child Development schemes in West Bengal.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, West Bengal Minister of State (Independent Charge) Malati Rava Roy and Union Women and Child Development Secretary Anil Malik were present at the meeting, along with senior officials from the Union ministry and the West Bengal government’s Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department and Health and Family Welfare Department.
Addressing the meeting, Annpurna Devi stressed the need for coordinated action to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women-led development and Viksit Bharat.
“Review should translate into action, action into outcome and outcome into transformation,” she said, emphasising the need for time-bound implementation of schemes, transparency and real-time monitoring to ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
The Union minister thanked state government officials for their participation and expressed confidence that improved coordination and a shared commitment would help ensure that women and children in West Bengal receive the full benefits of the schemes.
The meeting reviewed the progress of programmes under Mission Shakti, Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, and Mission Vatsalya in the state. The effective use of digital platforms, including the Poshan Tracker and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) portal, was also discussed.
Meanwhile, the Consultative Committee of Members of Parliament for the Ministry of Women and Child Development is scheduled to meet in Kolkata on Friday. The meeting will be chaired by Annpurna Devi and attended by Savitri Thakur and members of Parliament.
