UP CM Adityanath chairs Cabinet meeting ahead of supplementary budget presentation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday chaired a cabinet meeting ahead of the presentation of the state’s supplementary budget in the Legislative Assembly later in the day.

The four-day Monsoon Session of the Assembly, which began on Monday, will continue until August 6.

“The provisions in the supplementary budget are specifically meant to complete the ongoing schemes and carry out the necessary work in the public interest. I believe this budget will accelerate the pace of our development,” Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said.

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on Monday said the supplementary budget would provide additional funds for government schemes announced after the annual budget and meet expenditure requirements under various heads.

“The session is beginning, and a supplementary budget will be presented. There are many government schemes that have been proposed after the budget, and there are many such heads of expenditure that require extra funds, which is why they come under the supplementary budget,” Mahana said.

Calling it a routine exercise, he added, “The introduction of a supplementary budget has always been a normal procedure.”

On the opening day of the session, Adityanath urged members to focus discussions on issues concerning the poor, youth, farmers and women.

He also criticised the Samajwadi Party for raising allegations of embezzlement in connection with donations for the Ram Mandir, alleging that the party had earlier sought to obstruct the temple’s construction.
