Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan will undertake a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on August 8 and 9, during which he will participate in events commemorating India’s freedom struggle and the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan.
According to Vice President’s Secretariat, V-P Radhakrishnan will begin his visit on August 8 with a tour of the Cellular Jail National Memorial at Sri Vijay Puram. He will pay tributes at the Martyrs’ Column, offer respects at the Swatantrata Jyoti and visit Veer Savarkar’s cell, which stands as a symbol of the sacrifices made by India’s freedom fighters during the colonial era.
Later in the day, he will attend the Light and Sound Show at the Cellular Jail, which depicts the history of India’s freedom movement and the sacrifices of the revolutionaries who were imprisoned there.
On August 9, V-P Radhakrishnan will take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan by hoisting the National Flag at Flag Point in Sri Vijay Puram. He will subsequently attend the state function titled “Tiranga Concert on Vande Mataram” at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) Auditorium.
The Vice President will also visit the historic Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island later in the day, underscoring the significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India’s freedom movement.
