Twenty NCC girl cadets selected from across the country have successfully completed a 30-day, 250-kilometre high-altitude trek across Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
The cadets completed the ‘Aparajita-Parang La 2026’ trek, traversing the 5,578-metre Parang La Pass connecting Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley with Ladakh’s Changthang region.
The All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek, a flagship adventure activity of the National Cadet Corps, was flagged off at Karzok in Ladakh by Director General NCC Lieutenant General Virendra Vats and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dipti Mohil Chawla.
The expedition covered challenging high-altitude terrain, including glaciers, snowfields and river valleys. The cadets, accompanied by NCC officers, instructors, medical staff and support personnel, completed the trek from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh.
The expedition was earlier flagged off from New Delhi by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on August 18.
Congratulating the cadets and staff on successfully completing the expedition, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats said such activities help develop leadership, self-confidence, teamwork and endurance among young people.
The trek was organised to encourage greater participation of young women in adventure activities and provide them exposure to challenging high-altitude conditions.
It also aimed to promote national integration by bringing together NCC cadets from different parts of the country.
