Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his Jayanti, recalling his message of equality, dignity, service and humanity.
In a post on X, PM Modi said that Bhave’s stirring call of ‘Jai Jagat’ transcended boundaries and placed humanity above all.
“Tributes to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his Jayanti. His stirring call of ‘Jai Jagat’ transcended every boundary and placed humanity above all,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi said that through his various initiatives, Bhave worked for the welfare and empowerment of people, particularly the marginalised.
“Through his various efforts, he worked towards the welfare and empowerment of all. His unwavering faith in equality, dignity and service gave strength to the most marginalised,” he added.
Acharya Vinoba Bhave, a prominent Gandhian thinker and social reformer, is remembered for his work on land reform and rural upliftment, particularly through the Bhoodan (land-gift) Movement. His philosophy emphasised non-violence, social equality and voluntary service.
