Ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026, Amritsar-based artist Dr Jagjot Singh Rubal has created a large-scale acrylic painting measuring 5×8 feet, featuring portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other global leaders participating in the high-profile international gathering.
The artwork is envisioned as a tribute to the spirit of international cooperation and the growing global significance of BRICS.
Through the expansive canvas, Rubal seeks to bring together the participating leaders in a single artistic composition, reflecting the diplomatic and cultural dimensions of the summit. He expressed hope that the painting would be displayed at the summit venue.
“India is hosting the BRICS Summit this time. I have painted portraits of PM Modi and global leaders. I created this painting as a welcome gesture for the leaders attending the BRICS Summit. I hope that my artwork will be displayed at the summit venue; otherwise, I will courier it to PM Modi. I had previously received appreciation letters from Prime Minister Modi and the President of India,” he said.
India is the BRICS Chair for 2026. It is a founding member of BRICS and has previously held the chairship in 2012, 2016 and 2021. The country assumed its fourth BRICS chairship on January 1, coinciding with the grouping completing 20 years since its establishment.
The 18th BRICS Summit will bring together leaders of BRICS member and partner countries as well as outreach invitees.
The theme of India’s BRICS chairship is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
