Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) has called upon the academic leadership of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) to keep pace with rapid technological changes and prepare students to address emerging technological, economic and social challenges.
Interacting with deans and heads of departments of the deemed university near Itanagar, Parnaik said technology would play a key role in shaping the future and stressed the need for innovation, adaptability and solutions to real-world problems.
As President of the NERIST Society, the Governor said the premier technical institution must continue to produce graduates who are technologically competent, innovative and socially responsible.
He said people across Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast have high expectations from NERIST and urged the institute to develop young minds into entrepreneurs, researchers, leaders and creators of opportunities who can contribute to the progress of the State and the country.
Parnaik encouraged the academic leadership to motivate students to pursue excellence in emerging areas, particularly Artificial Intelligence, advanced technologies, research and innovation.
He also called upon faculty members to foster a culture of curiosity, critical thinking and scientific inquiry that can lead to meaningful research and impactful innovations.
Referring to recent developments on the campus, the Governor emphasised the importance of integrity, transparency and collective responsibility. He said every member of the NERIST fraternity should work with honesty and dedication towards the growth of the institution.
Parnaik said the ultimate aim should be to take NERIST to greater heights of excellence and national relevance.
Reaffirming his support to the institute, he assured NERIST of his commitment and assistance in strengthening it as a centre of technological excellence, innovation and nation-building.
NERIST Director Prof Narendranath S and in-charge Registrar Prof Sarsing Gao were also present at the meeting.
