India stormed into the men’s kabaddi semifinals at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Bangladesh 48-25 in their Group A match at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium on Wednesday.
The victory was India’s third consecutive win in the group stage and assured the team of a medal as it bids for a record-extending ninth Asian Games gold.
India dominated the opening half, combining effective raids with a strong defensive display to build a 29-9 lead at the break. They registered 18 out points and seven bonus points, while inflicting two all-outs on Bangladesh.
Bangladesh struggled to breach India’s defence in the opening period, managing five out points and three bonus points. A Super Tackle earned them another point, but India remained firmly in control.
Arjun Deshwal replaced Devank Dalal at the start of the second half as India sought to maintain the pressure.
Bangladesh improved after the break and scored 16 points, including eight out and eight bonus points. India, however, responded with 19 points, including another all-out, to comfortably close out the contest.
The victory followed India’s wins over hosts Japan and South Korea in their opening two Group A matches.
India will face Chinese Taipei in their final group-stage match on Thursday. Having already secured a semifinal berth, the Indian team will look to maintain its unbeaten run in the knockout stage as it targets another Asian Games title.
