The BRICS Bharat Innovates (BBI) Exposition, showcasing India’s deep-tech innovations, is being held on September 11-12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, alongside the 18th BRICS Summit under India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the exposition brings together 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures to showcase home-grown technologies and explore international partnerships, investment and market opportunities across BRICS countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition, along with senior Indian and international delegates, CEOs, investors and business leaders.
Deep-tech innovations take centre stage
The BBI Exposition features 37 startups selected from the original cohort of 120 startups and ventures that participated in the maiden Bharat Innovates 2026 exposition in Nice, France.
The event aligns with India’s BRICS Chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” and advances the BRICS Education Track priority of “Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems.”
Held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, the exposition provides participating innovators with opportunities to interact with CEOs, investors, business leaders and industry representatives from BRICS member countries.
The platform is expected to facilitate B2B engagements, technology partnerships, investment discussions, business linkages and international market access for Indian deep-tech ventures.
Linking Indian innovators with global ecosystem
Bharat Innovates is a national programme of the Ministry of Education designed to serve as a global accelerator for innovations emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem.
It seeks to build long-term collaborations between Indian startups, higher education institutions, laboratories and research parks and global stakeholders, including corporations, investors, incubators, universities, research institutions, governments and overseas alumni.
For participating innovators, the BRICS exposition offers direct access to BRICS-based investors and business leaders, high-level visibility, structured B2B matchmaking and opportunities to establish international technology and commercial partnerships. Matchmaking is being facilitated in coordination with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.
Bharat Innovates builds on success in France
The BBI Exposition is the second major Bharat Innovates exposition in 2026 after the inaugural edition held in Nice, France, from June 14-16 under the India-France Year of Innovation 2026.
The maiden event was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron and featured 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas, along with 15 participating institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX.
It attracted more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries, resulting in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships. Indian startups and ventures also secured funding commitments of US$254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings.
Strengthening BRICS education and innovation cooperation
The exposition builds on India’s broader engagements under the BRICS Education Track. The Ministry of Education hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7 and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The Education Ministers’ meeting concluded with the adoption of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, outlining cooperation in five priority areas: early childhood care and education and foundational literacy and numeracy; skill development and technical and vocational education and training; research, innovation and start-up ecosystems; mutual recognition of qualifications; and capacity building for academic leadership and institutional development.
