Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched the ‘Delhi PM Surya Ghar’ registration portal under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at facilitating rooftop solar installations for households across the national capital.
The portal will allow residents to register for rooftop solar systems and access information on subsidies, authorised vendors and grievance redressal. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Under the scheme, the Centre provides a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for residential rooftop solar systems of up to 3 kW. The Delhi Government has announced an additional state subsidy, taking the total support available to eligible consumers to up to ₹1.56 lakh, according to the government.
The Delhi Solar Portal provides details of the central and state subsidy structures and allows consumers to apply for rooftop solar installations.
The scheme also covers households with limited rooftop space and group housing societies. The portal provides options including group net metering, community solar and other models for consumers with space or financing constraints.
The government is also encouraging rooftop solar systems of up to 2 kW for households with limited rooftop space.
For eligible consumers opting for the PM Surya Ghar scheme, empanelled vendors will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the installed systems for five years.
The Delhi government has set a target of providing rooftop solar systems to around 2.30 lakh families, with the broader objective of expanding clean-energy adoption across the city.
Power Minister Ashish Sood said the initiative would help Delhi move towards becoming a “Solar Capital”, while enabling households to reduce electricity expenses and potentially earn from solar power generation.
The Delhi Solar Portal also provides a rooftop solar calculator through which consumers can estimate the feasible system capacity, installation cost, applicable subsidies, potential savings and other benefits based on their electricity consumption and available rooftop area.
