Delhi is likely to receive another spell of rain on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting showers at several places across the national capital.
The IMD said a low-pressure area over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas continued to influence weather conditions over Delhi and neighbouring regions. Several parts of the capital received rainfall on Sunday, providing relief from humid conditions.
Monday is expected to be the wettest day of the week, with very light to light rain likely at many places and moderate showers at isolated locations. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected during the morning and forenoon, while another spell of light rain may occur from the afternoon to evening.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall activity is expected to decrease from September 8, with Delhi likely to experience partly cloudy skies. The maximum temperature on Tuesday is forecast to remain between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may range between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius.
On September 9 and 10, maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures likely to range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius. The weather is likely to remain generally cloudy on September 11 and 12, with daytime temperatures between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius. No rainfall has been forecast for these two days.
Delhi recorded significant rainfall during the preceding 24-hour period, with Safdarjung receiving 29.8 mm and Palam 35.6 mm. The highest rainfall recorded in the IMD bulletin was 50 mm at IGNOU University.
The rain caused waterlogging in several parts of the capital, with areas including Geeta Colony and Akbar Road reporting water accumulation during the morning and disruption to normal movement.
Several parts of the wider National Capital Region also witnessed waterlogging. In Gurugram, waterlogged roads slowed traffic on several key stretches and caused inconvenience to commuters.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of Sadhbhavana Park and adjoining roads on Saturday to assess local conditions.
