The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) has stepped up preparations for the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 6 (SCDPM 6), with a focus on cleanliness, disposal of pending matters, better utilisation of office space and responsible management of e-waste.
The preparatory phase of the campaign is being carried out from September 15 to 30, 2026, across DFPD and its attached and subordinate offices and public sector undertakings.
These include the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and Warehousing Development and Regulatory Authority (WDRA).
During the preparatory phase, offices are reviewing physical and electronic files, identifying e-waste, scrap and unserviceable items, and taking steps for their proper disposal.
Key targets identified
As of September 28, the Department has identified 947 sites for intensive cleanliness drives across offices, depots and warehouses.
It has also identified 22,635 square feet of space for freeing up through the disposal of clutter and obsolete materials.
A total of 3,660 physical files have been identified for review and weeding out in accordance with record retention rules, while 3,534 e-files have been identified for closure.
The Department has also identified 439 e-waste items for collection, segregation and disposal.
Regular monitoring of campaign preparations
DFPD is holding regular review meetings with nodal officers and senior officials to monitor progress.
The preparatory activities include cleanliness drives, disposal of pending matters, freeing up of office space, record management and appropriate disposal of e-waste.
The Department is closely monitoring the preparations ahead of the implementation of Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
Through the campaign, DFPD and its attached and subordinate offices and PSUs aim to promote cleaner and better-organised workplaces, reduce pendency, strengthen record management, optimise available space and ensure responsible management of e-waste.
