Delhi University has announced traffic restrictions across key stretches of its North Campus on September 10 and 11 in view of the nomination process for the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections.
According to an advisory issued by the University Registrar, vehicular movement will be restricted on Chhatra Marg, Probyn Road, University Road and G.C. Narang Marg on both days. Gate No. 4 of the North Campus will also remain closed on September 10 and 11.
DU Proctor Manoj Kumar Singh said the restrictions have been put in place as the nomination process begins.
The university has directed faculty members, staff and students to park their vehicles inside Gate No. 1, subject to possession of authorised university parking stickers.
As per the election schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers, along with a demand draft of Rs 500 and affidavits, is September 10 until 3 pm.
Nomination papers for DUSU office-bearer posts are to be submitted in a sealed box kept at the Office of the Chief Election Officer at the Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department near Gate No. 4. Papers for Central Council membership will be submitted at the respective colleges and departments.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will begin at 3.15 pm on September 10, with the list of duly nominated candidates scheduled to be published by 6 pm.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations until 12 noon on September 11, following which the final list of candidates will be released.
Polling for the DUSU elections will be held on September 18. Students attending day classes will vote from 8.30 am to 1 pm, while polling for evening classes will be held from 3 pm to 7.30 pm.
Counting of votes is scheduled for September 19.
