Under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, a special exhibition of Hindi books was organised at the Srinivas Deshpande Library on Monday as part of Hindi Month celebrations at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University).
The exhibition aims to familiarise students, researchers, faculty members and other members of the institute with new and important books on Hindi literature, science and other subjects.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Director-in-Charge N K Mukhopadhyay. Registrar Sumit Kumar Biswas, Professor-in-Charge of the Library Sethil Raja A, AK Tripathi, Professor KK Singh, Deputy Registrar Ravi Kumar, Sudhanshu Shukla, Amit Kumar Singh, Major Nisha Baloria, Hindi translator Shashank Pathak and other officials and staff of the institute were present on the occasion.
Deputy Librarian Naveen Kumar Upadhyaya said around 400 new and important Hindi books have been put on display at the exhibition. The collection covers a wide range of subjects, including literature, culture, history, philosophy and society.
A major attraction of the exhibition is “The Complete Works of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.” All 12 volumes of the collection, compiled by the Mahamana Malaviya Mission, New Delhi, and published by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, are on display.
The volumes cover Malaviya’s life, thoughts, writings and contributions to nation-building. Students and researchers have shown particular interest in the collection.
The exhibition, organised as part of Hindi Month at IIT (BHU), seeks to promote interest in the Hindi language and literature among students while connecting the younger generation with the ideas and legacy of Madan Mohan Malaviya. (ANI)
